Alabamians who buy energy efficient appliances can soon qualify for rebates.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs has established a Web site (http://www.alrebates.com) where Alabamians can reserve a rebate starting April 19. The rebates for energy efficient appliances were part of the federal stimulus program.
ADECA says the rebates are $25 for room air conditioners, $50 for freezers, $75 for dishwashers, $100 for clothes washers and $150 for standard-size refrigerators. A total of about $4.1 million will be available for the rebates. The program will run until May 9 or the applications exceed available funds.
ADECA says consumers who reserve their rebates will have 15 days to purchase a qualified appliance from a retailer in Alabama and mail the rebate application form and purchase validation.
